Jordan Herregraven Raised among various places and cultures throughout Europe and America I find myself in constant search of some sort of home, some unquestionable reality. It is the struggle of this homesickness that fuels me to find some form of footing in this life whether it be through better understanding natural truths, attractions or some thing unknown to me still. Through sculpture, painting and installation I embody a spiritual journey that allows me to discover past and present symbols that navigate the imagination, human spirit and life’s essence. I often use natural material to create abstracted figurations and situations that describe the borders between life, death, imagination, mind and instinct. Through the use of several mediums I feel myself as in an ongoing process of freeing objects, beings and situations of their prior content and past symbolism. I do this so that I may see the object or circumstance in a fresh light, regaining it’s original presence without a biased ideology. I am looking for a release from the past and myself to search through the unknown, to better understand the fluid substance of this life in constant change. My strive is to create an ongoing mythos for the modern world, to communicate the feelings of what it is to be alive in the everchanging moment. // zie ook // www.jordanherregraven.com |
